Port and market context
Shanghai is a major hub of China’s seaborne trade. For buyers sourcing from factories in eastern China, the departure port should be chosen based on the actual factory location, inland haulage and available ocean services. A manufacturer located in another Chinese province may have a more efficient route through a different port.
Plan freight and landed cost
Purchase orders should specify the Incoterm, delivery point, packaging schedule and document responsibilities. Before loading, confirm quantities, gross weight, carton dimensions, labeling and inspection requirements. Declared origin, HS classification and destination-market compliance remain separate issues from the choice of shipping terminal.
Key checks
- Confirm the factory-to-terminal route in China
- Arrange inspection and export documents
- Compare FCL, LCL and destination charges
